JDisc

The CI Synchronizer connector for JDisc enables seamless synchronisation of discovered network and infrastructure asset data into your central IT asset and CMDB platforms.

JDisc provides deep, agentless discovery of network devices, servers, virtual environments, and installed software. With the CI Synchronizer JDisc connector, this rich discovery data can be automatically extracted, normalised, and synchronised alongside data from other IT source systems—ensuring a single, trusted view of your IT environment.

CI Synchronizer delivers rich JDisc discovery data into ServiceNow as Configuration Items (CIs), including the relationships and dependencies between them. JDisc discovers all major database and virtualisation platforms, digital certificates, and even inter-process communications between devices. This data is automatically synchronised into ServiceNow to power accurate CMDBs, automated workflows, dashboards, and reporting.

By integrating JDisc with CI Synchronizer, organisations can reduce manual data handling, improve asset accuracy, and maintain consistent configuration and relationship data across multiple IT management tools.

Key Benefits Include

  • Automated synchronisation of JDisc discovery data into CMDB and IT asset systems

  • Support for multi-source data correlation and reconciliation

  • Improved visibility of network, server, and infrastructure assets

  • Reduced manual effort and data inconsistencies

  • More accurate and up-to-date configuration and asset records

Rich IT Asset and Configuration Data
Beyond core asset records, CI Synchronizer synchronises detailed hardware attributes, configuration data, installed software, and patch information. With the addition of custom tables in the ServiceNow CMDB, CI Synchronizer can also synchronise advanced technical data such as SSH configurations, Java installations and running processes, as well as endpoint security configurations across compute devices.
TCP/IP Connection and Service Dependency Mapping
CI Synchronizer uses JDisc discovery to identify TCP/IP communications between devices and processes across the network. These connections are synchronised into the ServiceNow CMDB as relationship data, providing clear visibility into service interdependencies and enabling more accurate impact analysis, troubleshooting, and change planning.
Network Topology Discovery and Synchronisation
CI Synchronizer leverages JDisc’s physical network topology discovery to identify how devices are connected at the switch-port level. By synchronising these physical connectivity relationships into the ServiceNow CMDB, CI Synchronizer provides clear visibility into how network components interconnect and support end-to-end IT services—enabling more accurate impact analysis, troubleshooting, and service mapping.
Comprehensive Database Discovery and Synchronisation
CI Synchronizer leverages JDisc’s deep discovery of all major database platforms to synchronise detailed database configuration and relationship data into the ServiceNow CMDB. This includes database instances, versions, hosting relationships, and dependencies on underlying infrastructure, enabling accurate service mapping, impact analysis, and database-driven workflows.
Virtualisation Platform Discovery and Synchronisation
CI Synchronizer uses JDisc’s in-depth discovery of virtualisation platforms—including Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, XenServer, oVirt, and others—to synchronise detailed virtual infrastructure data into the ServiceNow CMDB. This includes physical hosts, clusters, virtual machines, virtual datacentres, and the relationships between them, enabling accurate service mapping, impact analysis, and operational insight across virtual environments.
Digital Certificate Discovery and Management
CI Synchronizer uses JDisc discovery to capture detailed information about installed and deployed digital certificates, including expiration dates. By synchronising this data into the ServiceNow CMDB, organisations gain visibility into certificate lifecycles, helping prevent outages, avoid connection failures, and keep critical services running.

Frequently Asked Questions

CI Synchronizer Professional Edition provides a streamlined, out-of-the-box solution for businesses looking for efficient, hassle-free CMDB synchronisation without the need for extensive customisation.

CI Synchronizer Enterprise Edition offers advanced customisation and high-volume data handling capabilities, perfect for organisations with complex synchronisation needs and custom configuration requirements.

Many! Check out each source connector page for details of the supported assets and other records.

Yes. CI Synchronizer can detect which source records have changed since the previous synchronisation job and only sync the newly changed source data.

Throughput is affected by factors outside of the control of CI Synchronizer, however we see a typical throughput of between 200,000 and 400,000 records per hour (and even higher rates are possible).

Yes. CI Synchronizer has a highly customisable rules engine.  Amendment of some Standard (simple) default Data Sync Rules can be performed via the CI Sync Web User Interface and supported with Knowledge Base articles.  Amendment of Advanced Data Sync Rules or creation of Custom Data Sync Rules requires an “Extended Implementation and Ongoing Support Plan” available at an additional cost to your CI Sync Subscription Plan.

Visit the Support page for details on amending the Default CI Sync Data Sync Rules relative to the support plan (including no plan) offered by Syncfish.

Yes. Please fill and submit the Book a Demo form to set up a time to meet with one of the Syncfish team.

No. Each customer is provisioned with a dedicated CI Synchronizer instance.

Ultimately the customer decides, however Syncfish recommends hosting each customer instance physically close to the location of their ServiceNow instance (for best performance). It can be hosted in most/all Azure Regions globally (it is still hosted/managed/maintained by Syncfish, but the customer decides which geography it is physically located in).

No. The source asset data (read from the relevant source system by one of the CI Synchronizer connectors) is transited through your dedicated CI Synchronizer instance then deleted after it’s been processed into ServiceNow.
